Excellent!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this and hope everyone has a fun learning time constructing their cantilever. When I watched the video of the 2009 record-breaking experiment, I got so involved that I jumped when it finally broke!! Cheers to learning!

What a great way to take the fear out of bugs and, at the same time, learn how important their contribution is to the world. I love what you do!!

Great lesson! I think it wasn't until I actually worked on a project with a deaf girl that I felt my separation disappear (because kids are especially aware of differences-with wonderfully positive and, sometimes, terribly negative results). That's when we really entered into a "normal" relationship. She was so sharp and clever that I was shocked. I think some part of me felt that I would be naturally smarter and quicker than her. I was only in the third grade and it was one of those lessons that has followed me throughout my life. And, of course, I can't forget the wonderful teacher who stood back and guided us, Miss Reilly. When I read about your group's activities, I think of the wonderful teachers I had. And this group has so many teachers and fascinating lessons every week!!

It's not the baby feeding,
We all know about that!
It's the uncomfortable feeling that makes people shout
When in public, a lady takes her breasts out....
I am not sure how you can deal with that-
When we are still battling against the hate
That 'blacks' and homosexuals generate!
However, go for it and keep pecking
With a bit of luck you'll get there in the end. XX

So well said, Jessica. It's breaking the cycle of fear and shame that runs through families. It takes a lot of bravery. I so admire all of you.
